the building blocks of health

The building blocks of health:

Antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, healthy fats (EFA’s) and hormonal balance are essential to health. They provide the building block needed and micro nutrients that cells crave. One of the most optimal way of receiving that would come from a whole foods, plant based diet. These micronutrients play an essential role in the growth, development and maintenance of your cells and body.

Free radicals are unstable molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron, that damage the cells and DNA. Medical science shows that free radicals are associated with hundreds of diseases. Free radical damage leads to disease, cancer and premature aging.

Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit oxidization, or cellular degeneration. Powerful protection against free radicals comes from antioxidants, super foods and a healthy diet. Antioxidants scavenge free radicals and act as cancer killers.

Phytonutrients are antioxidants and fight disease. They nourish the cells and assistant in hormonal balance. Some subcategories of phytonutrients are: phenols, carotenoids, flavonoids, indoles, terpenes, isoflavones, isoprenoids, tocotrienols and tocopherols.

Of the 13 universally recognized vitamins, there are water-soluble and fat-soluble ones. The water-soluble vitamins are directly used by the cells. The fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the body for later use.

Minerals and trace minerals are important factors for the health and balance of your cells. They work with vitamins, enzymes and hormones to promote healthy tissues, cells and organs.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and form into strings known as enzymes. They play major role in metabolic processes and transport nutrients throughout the body.

Enzymes are like the spark of life and ignite chemical reactions in the body. They regulate many bodily functions. Enzymes are proteins and a catalyst to change molecules.

EFA’s (essential fatty acid’s) are important to health and support neurological development. They help the body absorb vitamins and assistant hormone production. The body does not produce EFA’s such as omega-3, Omega 6 or Omega 9, so eating foods rich in these or supplementation is important.

Blessings & enjoy the journey
